‘Out beyond ideas of Market and State
There are commons.
I’ll meet you there.’
I have a background in Social Anthropology, Philosophy and Spanish and have previously worked with organisations working for social and ecological justice in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples, such as Alianza Arkana and LifeMosaic. I am especially interested in movements and initiatives to defend / reclaim commons – in particular, our land – and building democratic, autonomous alternatives to the dominant extractivist system. These desires stem from my experiences of growing up in County Durham, in the Northeast of England, which still bears the socio-ecological scars of several centuries of an extractivist economy centered around mining, followed by the brutal and unjust pit closures of the 1980s. I currently live in Glasgow, Scotland.
